How to use this calculator

Enter a one-time amount, the return you expect each year, and the number of years. The tool shows what it grows to, how much is pure growth, and roughly when it doubles.

What the numbers mean

  • Final value — what the amount becomes if it grows at your rate every year: FV = P × (1 + r)years.
  • Wealth gained — the growth on top of your original amount.
  • Rule of 72 — a quick shortcut: your money roughly doubles every 72 ÷ return% years. At 12%, that's about 6 years.

How to read it

Notice how the curve bends upward — the later years add far more than the early ones, because growth earns growth. That's why time in the market matters so much: the longer you stay invested, the more the compounding does the heavy lifting.
